There are several versions of the fuel caps for Golf 1: with and without venting, screw and bayonet closure. Which version is fitted depends on the engine type and the filler neck. The exact version (vented or non-vented) can often be identified by the inside (bottom) of the fuel cap. Check in advance if the fuel cap is compatible with your vehicle.
